Everything you will hear came from the inside of a piano. Drones were created using two E-bows placed directly on the piano's strings. Rubber mallets, foam, a meditation bowl, and a water bottle were some of the other objects used carefully inside the piano. Enjoy the collage of sound!
An album made with a single violin. This was my fun summer project, and might be used in a film I'm making.
I've wanted to do something for a while now that unfolds, as one track, for an hour. This is my current attempt at that, which acts as a meditation or something to fall asleep to. Minimalism has always had a hold on me, and I wanted to take it in a new direction.
This album was a big passion project that grew out of my love for looper pedals. There are millions of possibilities left unexplored by traditional looper pedal music, which l've had the opportunity to explore through improvisation on guitar and bass. My obsession with counter-melody and atonality has provided a framework for each piece. Every cluster chord and artifact was made with love. Strings were snapped, wires were tangled, and at some point pliers and a hammer were used. Needless to say, I had a great time observing my improvisational process and changing it as the album evolved. Each piece holds very personal and symbolic meaning to me and works as a sort of diary of thoughts and feelings.
A song made for today, November 6th, 2024. In America, I'm not alone when I say this. I could die because he's in office again. We knew he was organized, we knew he had plans, we knew he was a fascist. I'm disabled and queer, he'll target me quicker than many of you. But I'm still here, I'll stand my ground, and we will get through this. Maybe we're not happy, maybe the adrenaline makes you want to throw up. I understand. But we will make it through. Thank you so much to everyone who promoted voting and tried so hard. Everyone please stay safe. Please please talk to each other, please choose to stay alive, please take care of yourself.
This album represents five different nightmares I've experienced. I had no plans to make this, but one night, I just... did. The EP focuses on themes of endurance, acceptance, and facing one's fears while pushing through the worst of times. I've focused on this before in the Very Dangerous trilogy---if you live to see the other side of something awful, you get a rare, bittersweet feeling---it's the pain of healing. For me, in this instant, it manifested as anger.
The album doesn't use MIDI sampling, and is entirely made with my own instruments and a few microphones, as well as plenty of editing and mixing. As the final album of this trilogy, I wanted to take a breath of fresh air and let the sad feelings surface and wash over me. It's okay to be sad, and it's a beautiful thing that you're still you, and that you continue to live.
This album tells a story which focuses on the somewhat mysterious and very nostalgic elements of my early childhood. I wanted to capture the oldest memories I had, and wanted to appeal to the senses enough to immerse listeners into those vague memories. The album doesn't use MIDI sampling, and is entirely made with my own instruments and a few microphones, as well as plenty of editing and mixing. Thanks to Owen Ettinger for the car sounds in "Night Drives", and to my best friend for sparking my inspiration for "Best Friends" during a guitar jam session.
This album focuses on themes of isolation, suicide, and mental illness. Nothing you will hear uses MIDI sampling. Rather, the album was recorded with my own instruments, digital audio effects, and plenty of mixing. I thoroughly enjoy making music that sits on the edge of ambiance and noise. I always try to pay respect to people who have lived through traumatic experiences and are happy they did in the long run.
In Development . . .
EVERY brass piece this brass head has written so far! Gonna take me a while to get everything recorded.
This might be a project for grad school... There are about a million little sketches and various piano works I've accumulated over the years, just gotta get the things recorded.
I've been commissioned to write for a glass marimba type thing! It's really cool, and it might be out next year!
I'm making an animated movie by myself! Wish me luck!
